The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) manages Lake Lanier, the shoreline, scores of boat ramps and dozens of day-use parks and campgrounds.

That requires taxpayer dollars and user fees.  So … USACE is raising some day-use fees for a day at the park or launching a boat.  It’s the first increase since 20012.

Fees might vary at some USACE parks nationwide, but here are the minimum day-use charges:

  • Minimum day-use fee of $5 will be charged per private non-commercial vehicle.
  • Minimum day-use fee of $2 per adult for walk-in or bike-in.
  • Minimum day-use fee of $20 will be charged per bus or commercial vehicle.
  • Children under the age of 16 are not charged a day-use fee.

The day-use fee covers boat launches and the use of developed swimming beaches.  Walk, hike, bike or have fun watching birds or people at your favorite recreation area.

The best deal is the $40 annual permit that grants the holder and passengers admission to USACE parks for a year.  A dime a day to play in America’s most beautiful parks?  That’s a bargain!
