Depending on who you talk to the proposed Glades Reservoir is either a colossal waste of money or the only good idea politicians have had since [insert a good idea from politicians here].

What is Glades Reservoir?

The Hall County Board of Commissioners (Applicant), Hall County, Georgia, has applied for a Department of the Army permit for a proposed water supply reservoir project.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing the permit application submitted on June 10, 2011 for a proposed water supply reservoir (“Glades Reservoir”) to be located on Flat Creek in the Upper Chattahoochee River Basin in Hall County.

Atlantaland is sprawling northward (and eastward, westward and southward).  Some day it will reach from The Keys to Augusta and from Birmingham to Lexington (it would creep farther north but it’s too darn cold).

New residents will use more water.  Water that we’re fighting our (so-called) neighbors for already.

The reservoir sounds like a dandy, wise, prudent project.  We won’t know for sure until we study the documents on the Glades Reservoir Environmental Impact Statement website.  The latest updates are now posted.

We have until February 15, 2016, to add our own comments to the proposal.
