Melissa Cummings, our friend in the Communications Department at Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources, tells lakelanier.com that there have been no fatalities on Lake Lanier over the long Memorial Day Weekend, as of 3 PM on Monday, May 26, 2014.

One tragic drowning death was reported early Sunday morning, May 25, 2014, on Lake Allatoona.  Eighteen-year-old Chance Werner of Cartersville — who graduated from high school on Saturday evening — was playing a “game” with friends that involved kids getting into a shopping cart and being pushed off a dock into the water.  Sadly, the game turned deadly.
