Remember the movie, Field of Dreams, where the guy built a baseball diamond in his cornfield?  Well, Lanier Point Park is a bigger dream come true.

Yes, it’s on Lake Lanier.  Yes, you can launch a boat, catch a fish, grill hot dogs in the fresh lake air and romp around with your kids until you can romp no more.  Lanier Point has all the standard park stuff.

Lanier Point Park is like The Wizard of Oz version of Field of Dreams.  It’s amazing.  Five 300-foot baseball diamonds with 8-foot tall fences in the outfield, enough lights to see this park from Pluto (yes, it IS a planet!), and a two-story control tower.  (No, I do not know why, I am not an athlete.)

The Lanier Point Athletic Complex is truly one of the premier athletic facilities in the Southeast.  This groomed, 96-acre complex serves almost 15,000 baseball players and approximately 75,000 spectators annually, right around the corner from Gainesville’s most popular restaurants.
