When was the last time you heard of a good cop making news? Here’s some good news about Forsyth County Sheriff Major Richard J. Doyle, as posted on Facebook, November 11, 2015 by Daniel C Ippolito and shared by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO).
Gratitude for FCSO Major Richard J. Doyle
“I just wanted to take a minute to thank your office in general and one of your officers in particular.
On November 7th my daughter had just finished competing in a gymnastics competition in Cumming. My wife, her mother, and my two oldest children were on their way back to our home in Emanuel county when one of the front tires of our vehicle suffered a catastrophic failure. My wife was able to navigate safely to the side of the road, but it was nearly 530 pm, dark was approaching, and the shoulder of the road was very wet and puddled from the rain of the past several days.
Enter Major Richard J. Doyle. My wife told Maj. Doyle that she intended to call road side assistance to change the tire. However, Maj. Doyle advised her that he intended to stay with her until the tire was changed and he could just change it himself… and change it he did. Not only that, but the standard jack that came with the car was insufficient to lift the car given the soggy conditions of the ground. So, he called in for a bigger one!
This is an amazing testimony to the men and women of the FCSO. I’m a retired member of the Air Force, and the significance of having a Major change the tire of my wife’s vehicle did not escape me. A Major, in the wetness and dreariness of the evening, and in my family’s time of need, did not think it beneath himself to change a tire.
He is a testament to what real leadership does and should look like. I am so deeply grateful that he was there to take care of my family when I could not. Thank you so much.
May God bless and protect you all.”
