Our friends with the Lanier Striped Bass Coalition tell us April 2014 is a scale collection month.
Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources Biologist Patrick O’Rouke and Fisheries Technician Chris Looney asked Lake Lanier striper anglers and fishing guides to assist them in managing the Lake Lanier striper population by collecting the scales from striped bass during the month of April.
This is the 3rd year WRD has requested the help of area anglers, so the additional data that is being collected is very helpful and much appreciated by WRD.
A short video on collecting scales can be viewed here.
Please take to time to fill out an angler survey for each fishing trip by clicking here for the survey. This data is also desired by WRD/DNR to help manage the striper population on Lanier.
