Free Paddling Lessons from the Lake Lanier Association

Our pals at the Lake Lanier Association (LLA) are offering a free Kayaking 101 course to the first 25 people who respond.  Most of us need Lesson #1: How to get into a kayak without drowning.

These free lessons will be taught by an ACA Certified Instructor at Mary Alice Park in Cumming on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Participants must be at least 15 years old to join.  Advance reservations are required.  You snooze, you lose and you float downstream in your kayak upside-down.

With the increased popularity of paddle sports, many people are purchasing and enjoying kayaks, canoes and paddleboards on Lake Lanier.  Paddle sports are easy and allow just about anyone to enjoy boating on the lake.  Sharing lake space with large, powered vessels has risks.  There is a correct, safe way to do paddle sports and have fun on Lake Lanier.

If you are in the market for a kayak and want some advice, you are welcome to join.  They’ll have a few boats on hand.  If LLA gets many requests for canoe and paddle board classes, they might be added at a later date.
