Bad News for Winter Camping on Lake Lanier

Unfortunately, on Friday, April 20, 2018, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) released bad news for winter camping on Lake Lanier.
There should be a giant billboard on Georgia 400 advertising this park. “Toto Creek Campground! Where the Wilderness Meets Snooty Outlet Malls!”
Bolding Mill Campground, operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, is a precious jewel in Lake Lanier’s crown. Bolding Mill is a haven of rest on the northwest side of Lake Lanier, and the portal to excitement for sailing, paddling, fishing or water skiing.
River Forks Park has a delightful day-use area and a campground with lake views, only a few miles from downtown Gainesville, lovingly maintained by our friends with Hall County.
There are roughly 60 parks on Lake Lanier that are maintained by a variety of agencies. We’re thankful for USACE’s Nick Baggett for sorting out the dates of operation for the 2018 season.
Some say winter camping on Lake Lanier sounds terrific! Others believe the words “winter” and “camping” don’t belong in the same sentence.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) operates 32 day-parks in our area. It is wise to invest in Corps of Engineers’ Annual Park Passes.
Sorry, all the sites for Labor Day camping at US Army Corps of Engineers parks on Lake Lanier are full, except for a few at Toto Creek Campground.
War Hill Park is family friendly. Guys can vent their primal anger playing volleyball, while their wives sip sweet tea, smile sweetly & compare UPS drivers.
Dogwoods are blooming. Buds are on the trees and leaves are bursting to life. And, we’re also clearing away storm damage from the wicked weather that arrives as winter wanes.
