War Hill Park is much friendlier than it sounds.
- Wife: Â We need to talk.
- Hubby: Â Sure, Sweetykins! Â Where?
- Wife: Â War Hill Park!
- Hubby: Â Dang. Â Am I in that much trouble?
- Wife: Â Yup
- Hubby: Â Anything I can do?
- Wife: Â I get the clicker for the next 12 months and you pick up your socks … forever!
- Hubby: Â Deal! Â Wanna go have a picnic, Schnookums?
- Wife: Â Okay. Â Let’s go to War Hill Park. Â It’s really pretty there!
War Hill has your standard day-use perks:Â picnic tables, trees and grills. Â It’s also got some bling! Â Four boat ramps with restrooms nearby. Â That’s huge when a passenger looks at you and says, “We need to go back to shore. Â Now!”
There’s a beach with a volleyball net. Â That way, The Guys can vent their primal anger while The Ladies sit in the shade comparing their UPS drivers.
Spend the night at what they call “primitive campsites.” Â Yes, you get to keep your shoes and you won’t need Ninja spear skills to survive. Â A tent, sleeping bag and some Cheetos will tide you over.
War Hill has 14 such campsites. Â With restrooms nearby. Â And a real, live Host Camper who will hear you scream, if zombies try to crash your party.
If you consider an on-site fire pit, charcoal grill and lantern hook primitive camping, you’ll be right at home. Â For many, that’s better than home.
Camping is available from April Fool’s Day until Halloween. Â Call 706-344-3646 for reservations.
