Pedestrian Bridge to Olympic Venue’s Timing Tower Blossoms

The Lake Lanier Olympic Venue is blossoming this spring.  The new pedestrian bridge leading to the “Springer Mountain Farms” timing tower has bloomed.  Reconstruction of the service building that will house vendors and slick new rest rooms is budding too.

The work is being done in time to host two terrific events on Lake Lanier.

USA National Team Trials will be held on April 29th and 30th.  According to the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue Facebook page, “The winning boat from Olympic Events will qualify [for the] PanAmerican Championship and Rio Olympics Qualification” scheduled for May 18th-22nd.  “Junior athletes will qualify to US National Team to race at PanAmerican Championship, CANAMEX International Regatta, Veracruz, Mexico and Junior World Championships [in] Minsk, Belarus.  Top two ParaCanoe athletes will go to [the] World Championships, May 18th-22nd, [in] Duisburg, Germany and Rio Olympics Qualification.”

COPAC (Spanish acronym for the Pan American Canoe Federation) chose the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue to host the Pan American Championships Continental Olympic Qualifier for Juniors and Seniors.

USA Canoe/Kayak (USACK) and Gainesville Hall ‘96 will coordinate the races from Thursday, May 19, 2016, through Sunday May 22nd on Lake Lanier, host to the world’s best athletes during the 1996 Olympic Games.
