Our friends at Right to Hike, Inc. hope to see you at their 6th Annual Ella’s 5K & Fun Run, presented by Georgia’s Own Credit Union.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013, beginning at 9 AM at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center.

Right to Hike is one of my favorite non-profit organizations.  I know them and trust them.

Taking part in Ella’s Run will be fun, you’ll meet great people and you’ll help  provide emergency cell phone units to local parks, trails and greenways — because we have a Right to Hike and enjoy the outdoors.

Where else can you bring your dogs, kids, neighbors and people who can actually run farther than from stores to parking lots in the rain and enjoy one another’s company?

Runners can knock themselves out on the timed 5K course.  The rest of us can amble along, enjoying life and cold pizza (not included), while sweating less and spending the money we didn’t waste on goofy cross-over, athletic walking-on-the-moon shoes (a.k.a. “sneakers”) supposedly signed by sports stars who don’t even own a pair (because they’re too expensive).

The people in your business or organization are probably too lame to win anything but “consolation prizes,” but non-losers are encouraged to participate as teams.  Are you tough enough, bucko?  Ha!  Not until you prove it at Ella’s Run.

All participants are also encouraged to bring your dogs!  Borrowed dogs are welcome too, but please be sure to clear it with their caretakers first.

This event will include:

  • running, walking, strolling
  • hobbling, jogging, skipping and/or limping
  • free beer
  • music
  • vendors with cool stuff for dogs and runners
  • free beer
  • food & soda pop
  • door prizes
  • great people watching
  • and free beer!

All proceeds from this event will go towards Right to Hike’s main focus of donating emergency cell phone units to local parks, trails and greenways.

Right To Hike, Inc.

In celebrating the life of Meredith Hope Emerson, friends and family have founded Right to Hike, Inc., a non-profit organization that plans to support causes that were close to Meredith’s heart, including hiking safety.  Funds will be donated to purchase emergency solar/wireless phones for greenways, parks and trailheads, as well as the support of humane societies and others.  Meredith had a love for the outdoors and we hope to continue this message, while encouraging safe travels.
