The Lanier Canoe Kayak Club (LCKC) will hold an Open House and Parent Meeting at the Lake Lanier Olympic Boathouse located at Clarks Bridge Park at the north end of Lake Lanier on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 7 PM.
LCKC is committed to providing the best possible training and education in the sport of flatwater canoe/kayak.
LCKC has won 10 National Championships and placed numerous athletes on Junior and Senior National Teams.
At the open house leaders of LCKC will explain the “BBI Jr. Olympic Program” — a six-week introduction to the Olympic discipline of flat water canoe and kayak for youths aged 10-15 years old. Athletes will practice twice weekly on teams of up to 25 participants. There will be a practice race on September 7 and a championship “fungatta” to finish out the season on September 28th.
No experience is required. LCKC’s team of energetic, trained coaches will teach the participants new skills … while having fun and making new friends. All equipment is provided. Cost is $95 for the program.
LCKC President and BBI Coach Dave Haack says “the BBI Jr. Olympic Program is one of the best activities offered in the area for children. My entire family became involved with paddlesports when my children joined BBI and it’s been a great experience, learning new skills and a sport we can enjoy for a lifetime.”
BBI Spreaders, based in Cornelia, GA, provides funds for:
- medals
- T-shirts
- volunteer coach training
- and other program expenses.
Richard Hagler is the owner of BBI and has been involved with events and programs at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue since prior to the 1996 Olympic Games.
We appreciate BBI’s sponsorship.
