Suspect Named in Lake Lanier BUI Accident

DSCN0850Sunday evening, July 28, 2013, authorities were notified of a boating accident on Lake Lanier, near Shoal Creek.

DNR Rangers Corporals Loudermilk and Roberson responded to the boating incident.

According to Sgt. Mike Burgamy of the Department of Natural Resources’ Law Enforcement Division, a boater pulling a tube with two people in it made a left turn and slung the tube into another boat which was reported to be stationary.

One person riding the tube at the time of the accident was injured and told emergency responders he had pains in his legs and chest.  He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for observation.

The operator of boat of the boat involved in the incident — 37-year-old Andrew Ross Lockey of Buford, GA — was arrested for Boating Under the Influence (BUI) and Reckless Operation.

We are thankful the injuries were not life threatening.
