Temporary Closure of War Hill Park Boat Ramp

Dawson County’s Buffie Hamil confirmed with lakelanier.com that War Hill Park — located on War Hill Park Road, off Hwy 53 East — will be closed for 24 hours so that the US Army can conduct a training exercise.

War Hill Park’s parking lot and boat ramps will close at 9 PM on Thursday, August 16, 2012 and will reopen at 9 PM on Friday, August 17th.

Boats, cars and trailers left in the parking lot during that time will probably not be used for target practice or ordnance training, but why take a chance?

Better to be safe than sorry, so please remove your property from the parking lot prior to the 9 PM closure on Thursday, August 16th.

If you choose to leave your boat and truck in the parking lot anyway, please make plans to hire someone to buff out the tread marks left by tanks on what’s left of your vehicles.

Thank you.

NOTE: There is no truth to the rumor that the “Army training exercise” is a cover-up for the landing of UFOs at War Hill Park at midnight.

Please call 706-344-3646 for additional information.
