Beginner Classes at Lake Lanier Rowing Club

Few sports are as elegant as rowing.

Rowing can get you into shape and keep you there for the rest of your life.

Rowing is also a terrific way to get college scholarships and travel the world.

Begin your path to Olympic glory by taking rowing classes from people who have earned a world-wide reputation for excellence: the Lake Lanier Rowing Club (LLRC).

LLRC provides activities and events to rowers of all skill levels.  Whether you are just starting or are a serious competitor, they have organized group practices and equipment that is just right for you.  They excel in individualized attention from coaches and members to help you grow in your abilities.  Membership provides 24/7 access to the boathouse, equipment, dedicated time on the water and new friends who can share your rowing experience.

You’re cordially invited to their final Learn to Row Class for 2012.  Classes take place from Saturday September 15th through Saturday September 29th at the Olympic Rowing Venue, located at 3105 Clarks Bridge Road in Gainesville, GA.

Stuff You’ll Learn

  • Rowing terminology and commands
  • Sweep techniques (1 oar)
  • Sculling techniques (2 oars)
  • Rowing in a single shell
  • Rowing in combinations of 2-8 rowers

Class Info

  • There are seven sessions — each one is two hours long.
  • Weekday classes meet on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6 PM until 8 PM.
  • Saturday sessions begin at 8 AM and end at 10 AM.
  • The final Saturday session is a combined row with club members
  • followed by a graduation celebration.

Graduates of the Learn to Row classes who join LLRC may enroll in separate Novice group training.

Enrollment Requirements

  • No special skills required
  • A reasonable fitness level is vital
  • Ages 14 – 100+ are welcome
