National Hunting and Fishing Day is Saturday, September 24th, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division has a great line-up of FREE events organized across the state.
Here are three FREE ways you can get out and celebrate this Saturday.
FREE Fishing on National Hunting and Fishing Day
Yes, that’s right. It’s FREE fishing for all Georgia residents all day long. You don’t need a fishing or trout license to fish on National Hunting and Fishing Day.
FREE Scheduled Events Throughout the State
Enjoy one of the 10 scheduled FREE events held across the state. There will be family oriented activities, including archery and air rifle shooting, trout fishing, snake shows, wildlife programs, exhibits and more. Click here for a full schedule of events.
Director of the Georgia DNR Wildlife Resources Division, Rusty Garrison, states
It is a great way to introduce youth and newcomers to outdoor sports while teaching them about the important role that hunting and fishing have for Georgia’s wildlife conservation programs.
FREE Kids Fishing Event at Buford Dam
Kids 15 and younger should come to Buford Dam Lower Pool Park between 9 am and 1 pm for a FREE, fun day of fishing and more. The Georgia WRD will provide bait and stock trout for the event. Kids need to be accompanied by an adult and should bring their own fishing poles if possible. There’ll also be FREE hot dogs, drinks and snacks.
