Few of us have any clue about the meaning of the Water Control Manual (WCM) and the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) recently released by the US Army Corps of Engineers that impacts Lake Lanier.

Thankfully, we have Lake Lanier Association Executive Director Joanna Cloud.  Even so, Joanna says, “As you might expect, it is extremely complex and long.  As of the time [the Lake Lanier Association] newsletter went to press, LLA officials had not had time to digest it thoroughly or prepare a comprehensive report.  However, we can report the most essential news. The proposed changes generally support Georgia’s request for an increased allocation of water storage.”

The LLA urges us to attend the upcoming meeting during the public comment period, which ends 60-days from October 2, 2015.  The WCM Open House meeting will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 4 PM until 7 PM at the Gainesville Civic Center, 830 Green Street NE.

That’s your only chance to ask WCM questions in person.
