We’re thankful for the plans by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Lake Lanier to renovate Two Mile Creek Park at 9200 Bethel Road in Gainesville.

Two Mile Creek Park is now closed.  When the park re-opens, probably in mid-April of 2016, there will be new parking lots, additional picnic sites and a walking trail, according to information provided by the USACE.

The park is located close to Three Sisters Island on Lake Lanier — one of the lake’s largest and most visited islands — which made Two Mile Creek Park a popular spot for launching boats.

There are scores of other places to put boats into Lanier or to enjoy a picnic.  Some are open year-round, although camping areas are closed until the end of March 2016.

We encourage you to explore all of the recreational areas on Lake Lanier.

You might just find a new favorite!
