Road Atlanta’s 2013 Event Schedule

Living in our area and not attending events at Road Atlanta is like living in California and never saying “Dude!” or like living in Hawaii and never trying to surf or snorkel or like living in Minneeappolliss, Minneessoottaa and not going for a sightseeing ride on the back of a mosquito.

Road Atlanta is the finest road course I’ve ever driven in my 1999 Chrysler convertible.  The facility also hosts professional and amateur sports car and motorcycle races, racing and driving schools, corporate programs and testing for motorsports teams.

At Road Atlanta you can get close enough to the track to smell the burning tires, be deafened by the roar of the world’s most powerful engines and marvel at how crazy the people must be who race go-karts at 150 mph.

If that’s not enough, wait until you get a load of the scenery at the Drift races, if you catch my drift.

A select few of us (those, for example, who paid $5) have actually driven our own cars on the 2.54-mile race track.  Flying down the back straightaway at speeds upward of 50-mph and having your otherwise-totally-boring life flash before your eyes when you realize you must make a 90-degree turn after going FULL DANG SPEED downhill, while wondering when your brake fluid will burst into flames … THAT’s a memory, dude.  That’s a memory.

The 2013 calendar includes:

  • the Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda
  • Drift Atlanta
  • The Mitty Historic races
  • WERA motorcycles
  • club racing and
  • the debut of the GRAND-AM Rolex Series.

The fan-friendly track is ideal for a family outing — and children 12 and under are always admitted free.

Support Road Atlanta — before the government takes away your right to attend road races.
