In the unforgettable words that typing instructor, Charles E. Weller, should have said, but didn’t: “Now is the time for all crazy people to come together to the aid of the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club!”  Yes, friends, it’s time for the 2016 Polar Bear Plunge.

This insane act might will cause your body to retaliate when you least expect it, but rescuers will be available to pull you from the water prior to drowning.

Please Note: Probably.  Thank you.

Awards given for Best Costume, Best Splash, Best Jump, Oldest Polar Bear, Youngest Polar Bear, Funniest Chicken (a person not jumping but in costume)!

Registration begins at 10:45 AM on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2016, with the Polar Bear Plunge hitting the water about noon.  Registrants with split personalities will be happy to know they may jump in twice.

Survivors are welcome to enjoy an invigorating a bowl of chili, tasty desserts and hot drinks.

There is no truth to the rumor that registrants may push unsuspecting companions into the drink in spite of the logic: “But I paid!  What do you care if I go in or push someone else!”

New Year’s Eve rowdies will especially enjoy the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club’s 19th Annual Polar Bear Plunge.
