Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch and Forsyth County Sheriff Duane K. Piper and their teams raised $3,000+ for the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes by sponsoring the Thunder in the Mountains motorcycle ride, Saturday, August 22nd.

About 80 motorcycles toured North Georgia for two good causes: running red lights and raising money for five statewide homes that have nurtured Georgia’s neglected and abused children in a structured, loving environment for 60 years.

Children in Sheriff Youth Homes attend public school.  They receive spiritual and moral teaching, and valuable training to help them become responsible, successful adults.

Spending $25-30 to wave at law enforcement officers as we ride our motorcycles through red lights and stop signs — while they smile and wave — is a deal; especially when the money goes to charity!

Vendors set up in Laurel Park after Thunder in the Mountains with food, refreshments and crafts. The “Challenge A Cop” obstacle course was fun too!

Thanks to Chief Carol Martin and the Gainesville Police Department, all the riders, vendors and donors for supporting the Sheriffs Youth Homes.
