Don Carter State Park on Lake Lanier was the place to be on Saturday, September 27, 2014, as they rolled out the hay bales for the premier of the Chattahoochee Mountain Music Festival.
Families gathered from all over Georgia to enjoy the beach, do some fishing and camping, and spend a day listening to delightful music from local and regional musicians.
Crafty folks with all kinds of skills traded their priceless arts and crafts for mere money! Such kindness almost brings a tear to my eyes.
What’s more perfect at a mountain music festival than RC Cola and Moon Pies? These two skilled musicians offered up riffs, licks, harmony and free samples of two iconic Southern delights.
Fall arrived right on time and brought perfectly cool temperatures and a light breeze.
Perfect for browsing around the many displays of unique lawn ornaments, wind chimes, fall flower displays and stunning jewelry.
Families didn’t only attend to listen to music. Some came to play! The Wilkie Family from Dawsonville — also known as Shaky Willow — wowed the crowds with family style mountain music.
With Eli Wilkie on banjo; Sadie on guitar; Adley playing the mandolin; Michal also on mandolin; and, Preston Wilkie strumming his guitar and bass, there wasn’t a still toe in the park when they made their brand of mountain music.
