What began as another weekend of world-class WERA motorcycle racing ended with a fatality at Road Atlanta.

According to Hall County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Deputy Nicole Bailes 29-year-old Andrew White from Dallas, Georgia, was participating in one of the WERA motorcycle events on Saturday, June 7, 2014.

At approximately 5:30 PM, Mr. White began experiencing troubles with his gear shifter creating what is known as a “false neutral.”

A False Neutral can occur when gears do not fully engage during shifting.  The effect is similar to shifting into neutral, even when traveling at high speeds.  At times, gears can suddenly re-engage causing the motorcycle to become unstable.

After losing control of the motorcycle, Mr. White struck a concrete barrier.  He was transported to Barrow Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased on arrival.

We extend our condolences to Andrew White’s family and friends.
