Our friends at the Army Corps of Engineers office at Lake Lanier say they will temporarily close West Bank Park from New Year’s Day through Sunday, January 26, 2014, to allow for hunting in the area.

The park is located on the southwest end of the lake near the Buford Dam.

The closing will allow for waterfowl hunting, in accordance with the federal and state late season regulations.

Nearby parks will remain open for day use:

  • Little Ridge Park, located at 3295 Lanier Beach South Road, Cumming, is about a mile west of West Bank Park.
  • Gary Pirkle Park, at 6195 Austin Garner Road in Sugar Hill, about four miles east of West Bank Park, will also remain open.
