We’ve all met our share of pirates on the high seas of life, but the Pirates of Lake Lanier — arrrrrghhhh! — are the most hearty of them all. And they be good pirates, lads. There’s not a scurvy dog in their midst.
(Ooops. Sorry. It’s so easy to lapse into pirate-speak … even if you’re not elected to political office.)
You and your crew are invited to the Fourth Annual Pirates of Lanier events — including the Boat Poker Run, a fund raising-event benefiting children’s charities, such as Camp Sunshine and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Johnny Depp could not have organized this weekend of events any better than Lanier Partners of North Georgia.
For example, how many pirates do you know who can talk Nathan Deal, governor of the great state of Georgia, into declaring July 21st “Pirates Day” on Lake Lanier — with the endorsement of Georgia’s House of Representatives? Without, mind you, the use of rum, wenches, flogging and/or the threat of walking the plank.

These be pirates with hearts of gold — and they are going to rock Lake Lanier for fun, fame and charity.
The celebrations begin on Thursday, July 19th with a Meet & Greet at Gianni’s Italian Bistro & Pizzeria at Lake Lanier Islands Resort. Click Here for Meet & Greet Details
Cool trophies will be won during the Boat Poker Run on Saturday for:
- Most Patriotic Boat
- Best Decorated Boat
- Best Dressed Crew
- Worst Dressed Crew
- Best Dressed Buccaneer
- Best Dressed Wench and
- Best Dressed Wee Pirate
as well as the cash prizes for the Poker Hand winners.
The festivities — including the Captains Party on Friday — run through the evening of Saturday, July 21st with a laser show and fireworks display.
Please make plans to attend, then tell me all about it. I’ll be with other pirates, unfortunately, at a family reunion.
