Sometimes it takes years to become an overnight sensation, and earn awards and accolades for excellence.  Sooner or later, superior work is always rewarded.

Lake Lanier Islands Resort partnered with the creative team at Accent Creative Group on the design of its custom publication, Legacy on Lanier magazine, seven years ago.  Their collaboration has produced stellar results ever since.

In April of 2014, their labors were recognized by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), an invitation-only, member-based organization of leading visual arts professionals.  AIVA awarded the Summer 2013 Issue of Legacy on Lanier with its Silver Communicator Award of Distinction for the magazine’s overall design.

AIVA received over 6,000 entries in 2014 from ad agencies, interactive agencies, graphic designers and public relations groups, etc.  Lake Lanier Islands’ Award of Distinction was earned by exceeding industry standards in quality and achievement.

Lake Lanier Islands’ Chairman of the Board Virgil Williams first envisioned Legacy on Lanier magazine.  The publication was launched in 2008 to outline the wealth of the resort’s amenities and activities.  Mr. Williams’ skills were honed during his years of owning and publishing the highly esteemed Georgia Trend magazine.

Accent Creative Group is an ideal partner for Lake Lanier Islands on this project.  Led by Pam Ledbetter – former publisher of Accent Gwinnett magazine – Accent Creative Group also designs custom publications for Gwinnett Convention & Visitors Bureau; the City of Duluth; and, Johns Creek CVB, among others.

Legacy on Lanier magazine was previously recognized by AIVA for its Summer 2011 and 2012 issues.  Magazine Association of the Southeast has also presented Legacy on Lanier magazine with several GAMMA Awards for design excellence.

News of the 2014 Communicator Award comes as the Summer 2014 Issue of Legacy on Lanier magazine is distributed online and in print.

“I believe I say this every time we complete a new issue, but I feel this latest edition of Legacy on Lanier Magazine is our best one yet,” insists Stephanie Orr, VP of Sales & Marketing for Lake Lanier Islands Resort. “Through skillfully wrought words and images, it defines us not only as a terrific summer resort, but also as a year-round destination. To keep up with demand this year, we’ve printed 100,000 copies – which will be distributed on-site and to homes and businesses throughout the Southeast. I’d say it’s fairly apparent how much we believe in the power of this publication. It’s a remarkable way to communicate with our fans – current and future – about all of the excitement awaiting them at the Islands. Beyond our readers, we are truly humbled when our magazine is recognized by a panel of industry professionals for its design and content. We can always count on the team at Accent Creative Group to create a world-class product that is an ideal fit for the Lanier Islands brand.”
