Byron Reece Farm & Heritage Center Reopens

reeceByron Herbert Reece spent his life farming and writing in North Georgia on land his family farmed for generations.

Reese was fortunate enough to attend high school and college.  Later in life he became a published and respected poet and novelist.  His most prolific years were between 1938 and 1955, when he had four books of poetry and two novels published.

Good health eluded Reece, and he died at the age of 40 in 1958.

The Byron Herbert Reece Farm and Heritage Center honors his life and works.

They have new picnic tables for the pavilion, additional landscaping, along with enhancement of both agricultural and literary exhibits in the barns.

You’ll love this park-like spot so much you might want to get married there.

Or not; but it’s still a scenic spot for a glorious wedding in the mountains … for some folks.

Visits to the Gift Shop and Museum area in the Welcome Center are free of charge.

There are “modest fees” for tours of the exhibits area.  Inquire at the Welcome Center.

The Reece Farm and Heritage Center is less than 10 miles south of Blairsville on U.S. Highway 129, about one mile north of Vogel State Park.
