Lake Lanier Association Executive Director Joanna Cloud invites you to Shore Sweep 2015 — the 27th annual event that takes trash out of Lake Lanier — on Saturday, September 26th from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
Shore Sweep 2015 exemplifies the non-profit organization’s dedication to keeping Lake Lanier clean, safe and full. More than 1,000 volunteers with gather along the shores of Lake Lanier to remove 60,000 pounds of trash from Georgia’s Greatest Lake.
The Lake Lanier Association will have manual and digital laborers. Volunteers using the mobile app, TrashOut, pinpoint the location of junk rudely left around the lake. That diminishes wasted time searching for refuse during Shore Sweep 2015. Already, 200+ trash location reports on Lake Lanier have been cited.
Twelve locations lakewide are participating: boat ramps at Balus Creek and Big Creek; parks at Clarks Bridge, Don Carter, Gwinnett, Longwood, and War Hill; marinas at Aqualand, Bald Ridge, Gainesville, and Port Royale; and, Lanier Islands.
Advance registration for volunteers is NOT required, but it helps LLA organize their teams. Wear old shoes, bring a pair of gloves and prove your love for Lake Lanier. Turn in a bag of trash and you’ll get a free T-shirt!
