5th Ranger Training Battalion Open House in Dahlonega

Nobody in their right mind likes war.  We all want world peace.  We don’t want our sons and daughters to go to war.  When it’s inevitable, we send our best: the Army Rangers.  See them in action and meet them yourself at the 5th Ranger Training Battalion Open House in Dahlonega, GA, on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

The bravest, toughest soldiers in the world will display how they fight for freedom around the world at the 5th Ranger Training Battalion Open House at the end of Camp Wahsega Road in Dahlonega at the intersection of Coopers Gap Road.

Words cannot describe the action.  Not mine, at least.

Seeing helicopters swoop in over the hills.  Rangers jumping out and into battle.  Afterward, watching them hold onto a rope and fly out to safety.  Your reaction might be different, but I thanked God for the Rangers.  If America must fight, we should be thankful for the Rangers.

Since 1951, the U.S. Army Rangers have trained in the Appalachian Mountains and lived in the North Georgia community.  The Ranger Open House is an exciting display of the capabilities of America’s elite soldiers; including military skydiving, hand-to-hand combat, mountaineering, helicopter operations, and survival skills.

This free event will also showcase hands-on displays of modern military equipment and provides a unique opportunity to interact with soldiers in a welcoming and family-friendly environment.

The Ranger Open House begins with foot races at 7:00 a.m.  Following the races, the displays will open at 11:00 a.m. with demonstrations starting soon after.  The open house and displays continue until 5:00 p.m.

Please prepare for quite a bit of walking to and from the demonstrations.  If you park on Camp Wahsega Road, it’s about half-mile to get to the fields.

It’s totally worth it, unless you wear cheap flip-flops.  Oh, bring a hat and your most patriotic spirit.

God bless the Rangers!
