You work hard for your money. You probably don’t get many days off to enjoy spending it. Right? Well, spread a little of your bread on the waters of Lake Lanier this Labor Day at Lanier Islands and see how much fun floats your way! Enjoy a labor-free Labor Day Weekend at Lanier Islands.
The FOUR-DAY Labor Day Holiday signals the end of summer. Don’t let it get away without one more fling before the leaves change and the snow flies.
Lanier Islands rings the bell to start the first round of fun on Friday, September 1, 2017:
- Beach and Café at Sunset Cove are Open noon to 9 p.m. – Soak up some rays on the sand, take a dip in the lake, relax by the glow of the fire pits, take part in a friendly game of sand volleyball, play cornhole … all while fueling your bod with food and an ice-cold drink.
- Low Country Boil at Sunset Cove – 5 to 7 p.m. – This Southern tradition brews a mysterious and delicious steaming pot of boiled shrimp, sausage, red potatoes, and corn on the cob that tastes better than a kiss from either Scarlet O’Hara or Rhett Butler — with a beachfront view and a lakeside breeze to keep you cool.
Here’s what Lanier Islands has in store for you during the labor-free Labor Day Weekend:

“This year’s a little different from years past,” said CEO of Lanier Islands Mike Williams. “Labor Day Weekend typically represents the end of the summer season for us at LanierWorld. However – due to popular demand and Metro Atlanta’s temperate climate – we’ve decided to extend the season nearly a full month longer than we are historically open. In the event that they miss Labor Day Weekend at Lanier Islands, local families can take heart knowing that LanierWorld will still be open every weekend through Sunday, October 1.”
If LanierWorld isn’t your cup of Low Country Boil, rent a pontoon boat and explore 38,000 magnificent acres of watery pulchritude. Soar through the trees on a zipline canopy tour. Or get back in the saddle again — out where a friend is a friend — at Lanier Island’s horseback trail along the shore of Lake Lanier.
