We regret to inform you of the death of 18-year-old Estelle Kouassi, from Winder, GA, in Barrow County.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Deputy Nicole Bailes released the name of the victim on April 8, 2016, following an extensive investigation.

Hall County rescue teams removed the body from Lake Lanier on Sunday, April 3, 2016, after receiving 911 reports of an unknown object in the water.

An autopsy stated that the cause of death is still undetermined, although foul play was not suspected.  Final identification took several days to confirm through medical and dental records.  That information was then matched with a person reported missing on March 3, 2016.

We are grateful for all those who worked so hard to solve this case.

We extend our sympathies to the family and friends of Estelle Kouassi.
