The summer of 2013 was a bit of a washout for Lake Lanier, but look on the bright side!  We don’t live in Texas.

The rain was probably our own fault.

We all prayed for rain and we got rain.  And more rain … and more rain.  Lake Lanier sure had water in it this year.

But summer isn’t over yet.

We can still go camping at Lake Lanier for another week or so, and we can boat all year long.

A few of the day-use parks on the lake will close on Monday, September 8, 2013.  Others will shut down for the season on Saturday, September 21st.

Twenty day-use parks on Lanier remain open all year long.

The Labor Day Weekend weather looks like a great time for a picnic at the lake.

Please be careful if you’ll be boating.  Unless you have $15,000 or so that you don’t know what to do with, don’t drink and drive — boats or cars — over the holiday weekend.  That’s the estimated cost to deal with DUI and BUI charges, including lawyers’ fees, fines, court costs and other expenses — not counting the job you might lose and jacked up insurance rates.

We cannot relive the summer of 2013, but we can still live it up until the parks close down!
