The Town of Lula (pronounced by locals as “LOO-lerr”) hosts the Second Annual Lula Fall Festival on Saturday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
ThisĀ celebration of the arts and culture of Northeast Georgia will be heldĀ in the revitalized downtown area near the train depot — andĀ the dandy splashĀ park for kids — toĀ showcase the areaās accomplished potters, craftsfolks and folk artists.
Mark Lusink and local artist Larry Ledford designed the community mural project with the theme āPottery in Lulaā to celebrate the townās history of accomplished potters.
Chris Lusink with the Lula Belton Historical Society says, āWe are so proud of the changes and improvements being made here in our community and the wealth of talent in Northeast Georgia, so weāre bringing it all together in one place at the end of September for the public.ā
ArtistsĀ will offer demonstrations, in addition to musical entertainment and childrenās activities. Ā The Lula Belton Historical Society will sell barbecue plates.
āWe want to make this yearās festival twice as large as last yearās,ā Lusink said. āWith the number of talented potters, folk artists and craftspeople, our goal is to make Lula the Pottery and Folk Center of Northeast Georgia.ā
