The Georgia Tech Crew and Saint Andrew Rowing Club are delighted to welcome you to the 29th Annual John Hunter Regatta at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue and Rowing Center.  The Hunter is open to all college, scholastic, and youth rowing teams.

Racing will be at the 1996 Olympic Games rowing venue.  The 2000 meter course is a 7-lane buoyed course with starting platforms, enclosed finish tower and stadium seating for 3000 fans.

The John Hunter Regatta is awarding a championship team trophy to the college and youth team scoring the most overall points.  Scoring is based on USRowing scoring guidelines. They plan heats and finals for the varsity 4s and 8s and college novice 4 events with first, second and third place medals awarded for the finals.  2nd varsity, lightweight and youth novice events will permit two boats to enter these events.

These races will be scheduled as one race flights.  Awards for first, second and third place medals will be given for events with four or more entries.  We will also hold several championship sponsored trophy events, awarding the winning team a race trophy, plus individual gold medals.

Mens and women’s, college and youth events will allow up to a 5-pound overage for those events because it is so early in the season.

The Georgia Tech Crew and Saint Andrew Rowing Club  would like to thank the Lake Lanier Rowing Club for their support and for providing a world-class facility for Georgia Tech and Saint Andrew to host the John Hunter Regatta at Lake Lanier.

With plenty of water, an outstanding venue and great weather, this year’s regatta promises to be one of the best of the spring rowing season.

2015 Lanier Sprints Regatta Cancelled

After much consideration and regret the Lake Lanier Rowing Club has decided to cancel this year’s Lanier Sprints Regatta which was to be held on Sunday March the 29th.

This year entries for the Lanier Sprints are down considerably from previous years. Many of the races have one or two entries which will not provide the competition level which everyone desires. In the past this has led to many last minute scratches. For whatever the reason, it seems that many teams this year are only attending local/regional regattas.

Entry fees paid at Regatta Central will be credited back to the charge account used. Entry fees that have not been paid will not be charged.

The Board of Directors of the Lake Lanier Rowing Club is sorry for any inconvenience.  They hope that next year entries will provide more competitive racing.
