We regret to inform you of the drowning death of Shaquille Marquise Connor-Blunt, age 20, of College Park, Georgia, on Tuesday, September 17, 2013.
According to Melissa Cummings of Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources, Mr. Connor-Blunt and two friends were attempting to swim from the beach area at Lake Lanier Islands’ Sunset Cove to boat slips about 100-yards away.
About halfway there, Mr. Connor-Blunt stated he couldn’t make it and all three of them tried to turn around.
As Mr. Connor-Blunt struggled, the two friends tried to help but were almost overcome themselves.
Rescue crews from the Hall County EMS recovered Mr. Connor-Blunt at 4:35 PM.
Foul play is not suspected in this drowning accident.
