Aargh. What is July 20th? Pirates Day!

Aaargh, me beauty!

Aye, bucko!  July 20th is “Pirates Day on Lake Lanier!”

Lanier gets as loony as Jack Sparrow himself over Pirates Day.  Even the governor has offered our beloved band of merciful scoundrels his blessing.

Pirates Day will be celebrated for three days.  (Hey, they’re pirates.  If you don’t like them celebrating Pirates Day for three days, you tell them.  We’re not going to be forced to walk the dang plank by these scalawags or their wenches over a technicality.)

In a weird blend of Captain Hook and Robin Hood, these non-profit pirates take donations and give them to the poor.  (Nice, but they’ll never succeed in politics.)  The goal is to provide $300,000 to these charities.

Worried about joining the crew because you don’t know a futtock from a hawsehole or a spanker from a scupper?  Pffft.  Relax.  But you might want to run if someone says to you, “Have ye been to Shanghai, matey?”

Landlubbers are (almost) as welcome as the seafaring … especially if you bring lots of rum.

There’ll be none of this, lads.

Pirates Day isn’t until July, but you’d better show a leg and move smartly if you want to have one of only 300 ships allowed to participate in the 5th Annual Poker Run.

Yes, there is a fee.  No, it isn’t “a buck an ear.”  Nice try, ye picaroon.  Pirates Day might cost a few doubloons, but it’s all for a good cause.  Early discounts are available until the end of May.

We’ll see you on the High Seas in July!  If ye be of a mind to get squiffy, please let a different scalawag take the helm.
