So, I cheated. Used a calculator. The answer is: 1.8.
Lake Lanier is within 1.8 inches of full winter pool. Seriously.
We hit 1069.85 feet above mean sea level at 6 AM, April 1, 2013, at the Buford Dam. No, that’s not an April Fool’s joke. (But if you really want one, click here.)
The US Army Corps of Engineers uses two different levels to determine full pool for Lanier:
- Summer Full Pool — from May 1 through November 30 — is 1071 feet.
- Winter Full Pool — from December 1 through April 30 — is 1070 feet.
