Lake Lanier was packed over the Memorial Day weekend.  The weather was perfect and we all needed a break.

Thankfully, Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources Supervisor for Lake Lanier Sgt. Mike Burgamy reported only “a few arrests and … a few boating incidents” but no deaths or serious injuries.

Rangers handed out six boating under the influence (BUI) citations over the long weekend.  Five incidents involving boats were also investigated on Lanier.

Unfortunately, there was a drowning death on Lake Allatoona.

DNR Rangers made it clear that GA’s lakes would be heavily patrolled.  We believe their diligence helped keep injuries at a minimum.
