Matthew Wilbanks Wins Bass Tournament On Lake Lanier

LakeLanier.com congratulates Gainesville’s own Matthew Wilbanks for winning the Walmart Bass Fishing League (BFL) Bulldog Division event on Lake Lanier with a five-bass limit that weighed 21 pounds, 8 ounces.  His purse was $4,729.

Wilbanks said he primarily fished the north end of Lake Lanier, including the Chesapeake and Chattahoochee Rivers.

In addition to using a crankbait, Wilbanks used a jig around shallow cover and docks.  Which jig?  A brown one with a Zoom twin-tailed grub.  If that’s not what you use in tournaments, you might want to add a few to your tacklebox.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit for weekend anglers.  They sponsor 120 tournaments annually.  The next BFL Bulldog Division tournament is scheduled for March 10 on Lake Seminole in Bainbridge.
