Police Officer Drowned in Lake Lanier

We regret to inform you that a police officer drowned in Lake Lanier on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Little Ridge Park off of Lanier Beach South Road in Forsyth County.

Details provided by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Doug Rainwater say Cannon Trent Callender, 32, of Lawrenceville, GA, was off-duty while swimming at the park when he went under the water and never came back up.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 5:35 PM about the incident.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Hall County Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources responded with Marine Units.

At approximately 7:00 PM, Officer Callender’s body was found in the same area where he was last seen.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.
