57th Old Goat Regatta Sets Sail on Lake Lanier

The 57th Annual Old Goat Regatta sets sail on Lake Lanier on Saturday, September 7, 2019 and Sunday the 8th, hosted by Lake Lanier Sailing Club and Thistle Fleet 79.

Thanks for thinking of me, but no … the Old Goat Regatta wasn’t named after me, personally. Perhaps a long-lost relative?

You’re welcome to register online HERE. If you do, be sure to include your sail number and spinaker color (whatever the heck that is).

According to the Regatta Network:

We welcome one and all to the first Thistle regatta of the 2019 Southeast Fall Series and a qualifying Regatta for the 2019 / 2020 South Atlantic District Championship Series!

There is no known connection between Thistle regattas and the renowned NPR Celtic-music radio program, Thistle & Shamrock.

This might, however, be my only chance to post this picture of me with the host of the program, Fiona Ritchie. Yes, that shot is so old … my hair wasn’t yet white. You’re welcome.

Meanwhile, back on the low seas of Lake Lanier … unfurl your spinakers, man (or woman) the helm and contact Lake Lanier Sailing Club for more.

Music to sail by … as heard on Thistle & Shamrock:
