Two Lake Lanier Campgrounds Remain Open All Year

The official Facebook page of our US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) office has confirmed that two Lake Lanier campgrounds will remain open over the winter.  On August 17, 2016, the USACE posted notice that both Sawnee and Bolding Mill campgrounds will remain open all year.

On Sunday, September 18, 2016, Duckett Mill Campground and Van Pugh South will close for the season.  Later in September, on the 23rd, Bald Ridge Campground and Old Federal Campground will also cease operations until 2017.

If there are other campgrounds on Lake Lanier that you would like to stay open through the winter, please let the USACE know.  The best way to make your voice heard is to reserve a spot to camp during the off-season.

We receive many requests this time of the year to extend the camping season in our popular campgrounds.  As a reminder, the Corps is happy to extend the season, but our decisions on season length are based on campground occupancy in the off-season.  If you truly want to have campgrounds open earlier or later, you must show interest this season by reserving online for September/October now.  We will be determining next year’s schedule in the coming month.
