Rio on the Water: The Party of the Year

Rio on the Water was held at Lake Lanier Olympic Park to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1996 Summer Olympic events that were held there and to gather to watch the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The highlight of the steamy evening wasn’t the giant TV screen showing commercials from Rio.

While the rest of us, shall we say, perspired, the Lake People merely glistening as the sun set, the sensational food settled and the Brazilian dancers and musicians cranked.  Yes, Governor Deal was there.  Nice man.  Wonderful wife.

The main attraction was Rio on Water at Lake Lanier.  There was a parade.  Dancing girls.  Melt-in-your-mouth delicacies, exotic shrimp tacos and plenty to wash it down.  More dancing girls.

The best part?  The party!  Sober or buzzed … dancing and part of the action or watching wide eyed.  Add it all up and the hours of fun at Lake Lanier Olympic Park was a bargain at $100 a pop.

Finally.  Something that makes looking forward to the year 2036: the 40th anniversary of the Olympics on our beloved pond.

Thanks to one and all — especially Morgan House — for the party of the year on Lake Lanier.
