Body of Dan McGrath of Hoschton Found in Lake Lanier

We regret to inform you of the death of 58-year-old Dan McGrath of Hoschton, GA.

Public Information Officer Deputy Nicole Bailes with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the body of Mr. McGrath was recovered from Lake Lanier on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at approximately 11:30 AM.

Mr. McGrath was located in approximately 60-feet of water in close proximity to where witnesses last saw him working on his vessel at Sunrise Cove Marina.

With the assistance of Department of Natural Resources a sidescan sonar and a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) was provided to assist the divers in locating Dan McGrath.

The exact cause of death has not been determined.  Foul play is not suspected in this incident.

We appreciate all those who helped retrieve Mr. McGrath’s body, including the Hall County Fire & Rescue, the Hall County Sheriff’s Department and rangers with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

We also express our condolences to Dan McGrath’s family and friends for their loss.
