National Trails Day (NTD) is the culmination of many years of efforts from the American Hiking Society (AHS).
The annual National Trails Day, always on the first Saturday in June, is dedicated to promote outdoor activities in hundreds of locations around the nation.
Each year NTD introduces new trail activities — hiking, biking, paddling, horseback riding, trail running, and bird watching and more — to people who embrace new ways to experience nature.

Don Carter State Park on Lake Lanier will celebrate National Trails Day with a hike on Terrapin Trail and the ever-popular snake education class.
Please Note: Contrary to some reports, park rangers will not be teaching Common Core curricula to snakes. Instead, rangers will educate park visitors about snakes. Thank you.
If you are a normal, healthy, wise, careful person who wants to be as far from snakes “as the east is from the west” you will not be forced to touch or otherwise go near any creepy snakes. Honest. You can just come to the park for a walk in the woods.
