Our pal, Deputy Public Affairs Officer for the US Army Corps of Engineers Lisa Ann Parker, wants you to know that Little Ridge Park at Lake Sidney Lanier will be closed for approximately six weeks from October 21 — November 30, 2013.

This has nothing to do with government’s shutdown/slim down/nonsense.

The park will be closed for tree removal, paving and striping.

While Little Ridge Park is closed, boaters are welcome to use the boat ramp at East Bank Park, located at 1250 Buford Dam Road in Buford, about three miles East of Little Ridge Park.

Visitors using Little Ridge Park as a dog walking area can switch over to Gary Pirkle Park, about five miles away, temporarily.  The address for Pirkle Park is 6195 Austin Garner Road in Sugar Hill.

When the park reopens in December, it’ll be nicer than ever.

Is there any trail that starts before the road closure?
There is a geocache in the park that was placed in August of 2000. There are only 3 in the entire US, 4 in the world, that are still active that were placed in that month. I’ll be driving by in 3 weeks and had planned to stop to find this geocache.
