Now that I have your attention … I have a confession to make. This opportunity probably won’t make you a movie star, but it could.
Here’s the deal, in Q&A format:
Is it true another movie will be filmed near Buford and around Lake Lanier?
That’s true.
What movie is it?
“Blended” — starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The plot thickens for a couple when, after a disastrous blind date, they find themselves stuck together with their kids from a previous marriage.
Sounds exactly like common stories of divorced men and women who marry and try to blend their kids into a new family — except this movie is funny and probably has a happy ending.
I heard that the producers are looking for extras, is that true?
That’s also true.
Will this make me a filthy rich, uber-snooty movie star with a house in Malibu?
Probably not, but if I’m wrong please hire me as your publicist anyway.
Are the casting folks still looking for couples to get free massages?
Nope. Here’s the official scoop:
“We do not need any more couples for the massage scene at this time. IF we were to need more (we had an overwhelmingly large response) we will re-post on our Facebook page. The local papers and other websites posted that information and the submissions had already been sent to the director for selecting as well.”
What’s the best way to get hired to be an extra in the movie?
I’m betting it’s giving the casting company free publicity on this website.
What’s the second-best way to get hired to be an extra in the movie?
- Pay attention. Find out what types of people the casting gurus are looking for — age, height, size, weight, color or nationality, hair style, etc. — and only apply if you meet the specific qualifications.
- Be patient. Extras are usually hired a day or two before scenes are filmed.
- Be available. If you are WHAT they’re looking for you must also be where they want you, when they want you there. No, you can’t bring your kids or your dog. Sorry.
- Be responsive. Provide an e-mail address that you actually check. Answer your phone if they call. If Opportunity Knocks, open the door … don’t ask it to leave a message.
- Follow instructions. If you choose to respond to the casting call, be sure to provide all the information they ask of you. If you act all mysterious and hard to get, your future will probably not include being a movie star. If you’re not sure you want to be a movie star, say this phrase every six seconds for the next eight hours, “Would you like fries with that?”
- Respond once. Take your time. Submit your information and photographs once. Answer all the questions. Once. Then, wait. They’ll call you if they can use you.
- Wait. There will be time later to order jets, cars, jewelry, vacation homes & assorted bling.
