Sister Hazel at Lake Lanier Islands

Sister Hazel

Sister Hazel is a band — which, in a cruel trick, is comprised of what appears to be five guys — based in that lesser Gainesville where all the old people live.

Their sound is likened to a blend of folk, folk rock, pop, classic rock ‘n roll, southern rock with electric and acoustic instruments, with a hint of  smoked hickory.

In other words, if you like upbeat music from talented bands with a dandy name, you cannot go wrong with Sister Hazel.

(No, I don’t mean Sister Hazel Williams, the nun who ran a homeless shelter, I mean the band.)

If you have lived under a rock near me for the past 15 years, you’ll want to know that “Sister Hazel’s creative train just keeps rolling!”  They’ve sold lots of records (are they still called “records”?) and their music won’t make you want to shoot crack and drink pot until things like Justin Beeper and Obamacare actually make sense.

But, really.  What’s the worst that can happen if you go to Lake Lanier Islands for this Summer Series concert on a gorgeous summer evening?

The weather?  It’ll be a marvelous night for a moondance with old and unmet friends.

Sure, maybe a few yoots will tease you for not knowing all the lyrics to the songs on Heartland Highway.

Go anyway.  Suck in your gut and live it up.  The scenery — including Lake Lanier — will be worth it.

Be like the band.  They say, “We are all in groove.  We are stepping into our heyday.”

Get groovy and step into a heyday at Lake Lanier Islands’ Peachtree Pointe Amphitheater.

Spend the evening with Sister Hazel … and all their pals … Saturday night, June 22nd, the first full day of summer!
