GA Approves Appalachian Trail Tags

GA AT tag

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) collected the 1,000+ applications required to ask the state of Georgia to approve a specialty license plate honoring the Appalachian Trail (AT).

ATC’s request for revenue sharing from the sale of the vehicle tags required new legislation: House Bill HB-104.

Thankfully, the Georgia House of Representatives passed HB-104.  On March 26, 2013, the Georgia Senate also passed HB-104.

The new law will help fund AT-related projects such as these:

  • trail and facilities maintenance
  • scenic easements and view preservation
  • environmental monitoring
  • increased public information
  • and education and outreach to Georgia residents.

We encourage Georgia residents to honor and support the Appalachian Trail by investing in the AT car tags.
