Road Atlanta Hosts Relay for Life

Cheerleaders at Lakeview Academy washed cars and raised more than $2,000 for Relay for Life.

The American Cancer Society came up with the idea of Relay for Life to inform the public about cancer and to raise funds to fight the disease.

Relay for Life is a life-changing event that helps communities in three special ways:

•  Celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer

•  Remember loved ones lost and

•  Fight back against cancer.

The 2012 Hall County Relay for Life takes place on Friday, June 1st, beginning at 7 PM at Road Atlanta.  This event takes place overnight.  Teams camp out and take turns walking around the track for twelve hours.  Relay for Life is family-friendly and open to everyone.  Because it’s a relay, you’re not required to be there the entire time.

No matter why you take part in Relay for Life one thing is clear: with every step you take, you are helping the American Cancer Society save lives.  We aren’t just fighting one type of cancer — we’re fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community.  You are helping create a world with less cancer and more birthdays!

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 7 PM, followed by the emotional Survivor Lap at 7:15 PM.  The Closing Ceremony takes place at 7 AM.
